Hotel Bel Air wins Hospitality Design Award

HLW is currently designing a state-of-the-art broadcast facility and headquarters for Pac-12 Enterprises’ new television network headquartered out of San Francisco, CA. The Pac-12 Networks are scheduled to launch in August 2012.

The Times Tower – One Times Square

1903-1905-Eidlitz & MacKenzie

In 1905, the firm designed one of New York’s first and most famous skyscrapers, The New York Times Building on the site then renamed Times Square in its honor. The task was complicated by the simultaneous construction of a subway at the building’s foundation.

1963- Smith, Smith, Haines, Lundberg & Waehler

In 1965 the building’s facade underwent a major update designed by Smith, Smith, Haines, Lundberg & Waehler. The original intricate granite and terra-cotta design was replaced by concrete panels with integrated marble facing, forming a sheer wall on most of the tower portion and an arched window curtain wall on the wedge-shaped lower portion facing Times Square.

You can find the exhibit at the Skyscraper Museum wich includes HLW’s work for the original NYTimes Tower.
