Financial Technology Client
A future-focused fintech headquarters connects people, culture, and place on London’s Southbank.
This global fintech client recently consolidated its London offices into a single, unified headquarters. The company relocated to a newly refurbished landmark building in the heart of London’s Southbank. Spanning approximately 40,000 sq ft, this move reinforces the company’s long-term real estate presence in one of London’s most dynamic and culturally rich districts.
Acting as Lead Designer for the project, HLW led a series of collaborative workshops, visioning sessions, and strategic planning meetings to define the design direction, workplace vision, and programmatic requirements. The overarching goal was to craft a future-focused, people-centric workplace that fosters well-being, collaboration, and professional growth—supporting this fintech company’s mission to attract and retain top talent.
The vision for the new headquarters is to create a fun and engaging environment that captures the spirit of the company culture while elevating it within a design that is classy, current, and reflective of the surrounding context. Inspired by the building’s position in one of London’s most iconic riverside districts, the design draws upon the historic role of the Thames in commerce and trade, embedding subtle references to local heritage throughout the space.
Rather than a traditional corporate layout, the new workplace is defined by intuitive, flexible environments that encourage organic interactions, with floorplate destinations that spark connection, creativity, and discovery. The integration of wellness is central to the concept, with spaces that support both high-focus tasks and informal collaboration, acknowledging that quiet, tucked-away zones are just as important as vibrant, social areas.
This new headquarters is envisioned as a lantern of culture—a visible and tangible expression of the company’s values, purpose, and future. It is a space that celebrates contrasting ideas, encourages innovation, and creates opportunities for teams to come together meaningfully. Designed to host events and presentations, the headquarters will also serve as a key node in the company’s global portfolio, strengthening its presence in London while setting a benchmark for workplace experience.
More than just a relocation, this project is a strategic investment in people, place, and purpose. It marks a significant step forward in the company’s commitment to creating an exceptional work environment that reflects its brand identity and supports the evolving needs of its workforce.
A flexible workplace balances focused work, collaboration, and social connection across intuitive floorplate destinations.
